We have been watching and listening with great sadness to the unfolding news and spending time in prayer for those affected by the disaster and those that are on the ground helping with the relief efforts.  In order for Haiti and the people to recover, they need help for the long haul.  This is where we feel called to help.  There are many calls for help and many places to donate.  We have decided to partner with several organizations to bring hope to Haiti.

Children are particularly vulnerable and we want to do our best to help meet their needs.  Feeding the children has been and will continue to be a critical need in Haiti.  Feed my Starving Children has already shipped one million meals to Haiti.  Hope Filled Hands wants to work with them to provide 100,000 meals at a cost of $17,000.   That is just 17 cents a meal!  We would like to involve the community in this effort, so we plan to have a mobile packing unit come to our community in May and put the meals together right here.  In order to accomplish this, we will need to pay for the meals in mid February. 

We will also be working with the Fuller Center to help with the rebuilding efforts.  It would cost approximately $5000 to build a home there and we would like to lead teams to build decent homes for the families there.  The details are being worked out at this time and we will update you soon. 

We have also met with a local ministry that had a team on the ground during the earthquake.  They are all home and safe, but the church and orphanage that they are connected with will need to be rebuilt.  We would like to work with them in this rebuilding effort and plans are being worked out to send the first teams down to help with that in April.

Please continue to pray for the children, families, and communities left devastated by this disaster in Haiti. Pray especially for those who are now homeless, injured, lack basic essentials, and have lost loved ones. Pray also for God's protection and guidance upon those who are responding with emergency assistance.
